Loving Sairam. Sairam. With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet celebrated the 78th Independence Day with patriotic fervour. Smt. Mala Sarat Chandra, Member, Downtown Soroptomist International Club was the chief guest of the day.
The outdoor celebration began at 7:45 am with a majestic march-past and flag-hoisting. The four houses—Sathya, Dharma, Shanthi, and Prema—marched behind the band with precision and synchronization. Led by Brother Sai Vignesh, class XII, each house marched past the dais and saluted the chief guest and other dignitaries on the stage. The National Flag was then hoisted, accompanied by the singing of patriotic songs such as ‘Vande Mataram…’, ‘Thaayin manikkodi paareer…’ – the flag song, and ‘Tamil Thaai Vaazhtthu’. After the flag-hoisting ceremony, the pledge was recited.
The indoor programme commenced in the Ram Sai Hall (assembly) with the event anchored by two students enacting the roles of a curious child and a wise grandparent, adding a thoughtful touch to the proceedings. This was followed by vibrant Veda chanting, invoking Divine blessings. Correspondent Sri S.Loganathan along with other school heads led the organization of all the events from the front. Director Sri P. Kumaraswamy welcomed the gathering. The welcome address emphasized the importance of gaining independence from the negative qualities – the Shatripus within ourselves.
The cultural events began with an eloquent Tamil speech by Thaniskaa.P, Class II, who set a graceful patriotic tone for the performances. Following the speech, students dressed as iconic freedom fighters—Jhansi Rani, Tiruppur Kumaran, and Veera Pandiya Kattabomman—delivered stirring lines and quotes, bringing these historical figures to life.
Next, a group of girls from classes VI and VII performed a mesmerizing and energetic dance to the song ‘Parukulle Nalla Nadu…’, celebrating the spirit of freedom. Their graceful movements and perfect co-ordination captivated the audience, as the dancers expressed the joy and pride of living in a free nation.
After the dance, the Sai Ganapriya – SSSIE Fine arts department presented a deeply moving fine arts fusion performance on the theme ‘Thyaga Bharatham’. This powerful tribute to freedom fighters and the army highlighted the theme of sacrifice. Students showcased their talents on various instruments, including Keyboard, Tabla, Mridangam, Dholak, Flute, Veena, Drums, and Vocals, creating an atmosphere filled with uplifting vibrations. During the performance, the art and craft students added a creative touch by making a chart live in front of the audience, visually reinforcing the tribute.
Following the Fine Arts presentation, Saimax, SSSIE’s multimedia department, screened an inspiring video on various freedom fighters, further enriching the audience’s understanding and appreciation of India’s struggle for independence.
Chief Guest Mrs. Mala Sarath Chandra , in her address, praised the students for being blessed with great opportunities to showcase their skills at the school. Being a person coming from a foreign nation, she appreciated the values of Sanathana Sanskrithi of Bharath.
After the chief guest’s address, prize distribution took place. Students were awarded medals for their achievements in the Open Karate Championship in Malaysia, certificates for the Bridge Academy grade exams, Carrom tournament certificates, State level Malkhamb championship certificates, etc.
Principal-in-charge Ms. Vedhanayagi proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The programme concluded with the offering of Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan and the distribution of Prasadam
