Sairam. With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Grama Seva was performed by the students and the staff of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet on 20th Nov 2024 as a part of the grand celebration of the 99th birthday of Swami. Students followed the Ceiling on Desires Project during Diwali vacation and reduced the purchase of crackers, dresses, food items, etc. The amount thus saved was contributed to organizing the Grama Seva.
The senior students participated in the preparation of the food and the food packets on the night before the Grama Seva day. Students carrying Swami’s portrait went in procession to the nearby Nanmangalam village chanting Sai Gayatri Mantra throughout the procession. They visited the old age home at Nanmangalam, and performed Bhajans at the Shirdi Sai Mandir. Correspondent Sri S.Loganathan introduced the in-charge of the Home and admired his ardent Seva to Bhagawan. He explained the significance of the Grama Seva and why Swami kept it as a part of the Sai system to teach children both education and educare. Lunch Prasadam was served to all the inmates at home. After the Lunch, students interacted with the grandmas and the grandpas and shared their selfless love. The inmates advised the students to study well and reach the heights. All the students took blessings from them.
Another group of students went to Ambedkar colony in Vellakkal village and distributed food packets and Laddu Prasadam to the poor people. They also had a golden opportunity to visit a Sai Mandir maintained by a Muslim devotee. The Grama seva taught the lessons of love and compassion to all the students. The groups returned to the campus by walking. The holy Grama Seva concluded with Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan.
