Sairam.With a noble goal to create awareness among school students to practise human values in daily life, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet (a CBSE school offering Sai system of vallue-based education) has been organizing ‘Swadhyaya’ – seminar on human values as an inter-school competition for the past 20 years.
The 21st year seminar was organized on the topic ‘Duty without love is deplorable. Duty with love is desirable. Love without duty is Divine.’ on 20th July 2024, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Various schools from in and around Chennai were selected to participate in the seminar.
Sri P.Kumarasamy, Director, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest for the inaugural session. Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, Director , Sastra University, Chennai Campus, Former Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai was the chief guest for the session. She motivated the audience with the reminder to the Covid-19 period, when our Bharath’s Namaskar culture was spread to the whole world when everybody wanted to greet others without touching their hands. She distinguished between man and animal saying that man should share and show, love, respect, regard to his fellow creations. Love alone unites all human beings and not the sixth sense. She gave a better understanding of the essentiality of the value of Truth through an inspiring story of king Aparaajitha who was not willing to let the Goddess of Truth go away from his palace though the Goddesses of Ishwarya, Dharma had left already. She emphasized that marks do to fetch a degree to a college student but the remarks approved through the ‘Grace the Pass’ ceremony during every convocation qualify him or her to get the degree. Smt. Poongothai, Primary Headmistress delivered the vote of thanks
A detailed synopsis about the seminar and the rules and regulations were presented to the students. A panel of 7 judges who are eminent professionals in various fields judged the best school on the basis of performance in Role play, PPT presentation, Question & Answer session, Team work and Poster painting event.
After the judges presented a review of all the performances by the participants, the valedictory function was held. Correspondent Sri S.Loganathan delivered the welcome address and introduced the chief guest Sri. Vaiyapuri Periyakaruppiah, Judge(Retd.), Madras High Court. In his address, the chief guest emphasized on the significance of honesty in any profession. He cited an event from his personal life as an example to understand and realise the Blessings and Grace of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba around us always. He concluded his speech quoting Sathya, Dharma, Shanthi and Prema as the driving force for one’s achievements and success and wished the school to continue with its service to the student community and the society.
The overall championship shield with gold medals and certificates for the best performance was awarded to the participants from DAV school, Admbakkam for their commendable performance in all the events of the Seminar. NSN Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Chromepet was awarded Silver medals and SRDF Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Chromepet received bronze medals for securing the second and third places respectively. All other participants and guide teachers were given Certificates and mementoes for their participation. Correspondent Sri S.Loganathan felicitated the chief guest and the Seminar judges with a memento of love. After the proposal of vote of thanks by Smt. N.Vedhanayagi, Principal-in-charge, the Seminar concluded with National Anthem and Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
