With an aim to create awareness among school students to practise human values in daily life, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet (a CBSE school offering Sai system of Value-based education) has been organizing ‘Swadhyaya’ – seminar on human values as an inter-school competition for the past 19 years.
The 20th year seminar was organized on the topic ‘Money comes and goes; Morality comes and grows’ on 5th Aug 2023, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Various schools from in and around Chennai were selected to participate in the seminar. Mr. S.Loganathan, Correspondent, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare welcomed the gathering and introduced the Guests for the inaugural session. Mrs. Srimathi, Under Secretary, Centre of Excellence for Teachers, Central Board of Secondary Education, Chennai was the chief guest for the session. She explained the importance given by the CBSE for value education in the curriculum and expressed her happiness for being present during this unique Seminar on human values.
Dr. Uma Sivaraman, Deputy Commissioner (Retd.), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was the Guest of Honour who emphasized the need of such value-based seminars at a time now when the whole world was ruled by technology, Artificial Intelligence etc. She appreciated the school for imparting values and spirituality along with secular education. Smt. Vedanayagi, Principal in-charge delivered the vote of thanks for the inaugural session.
A detailed synopsis about the seminar and the rules and regulations were presented to the students. A panel of 7 judges who are eminent professionals in various fields judged the best school on the basis of performance in Role play, PPT presentation, Question & Answer session, Team work and Poster painting event.
After the judges presented a review of all the performances by the participants, the valedictory function was held. Sri C.V.Shankar IAS (Retd.) was the chief guest for the function who shared his experiences with Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and narrated various uninvited situations during his IAS service wherein he was saved by following his conscience as per the advice of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. He appreciated the students of the school for excelling in various co-curricular activities and spirituality along with their secular education. Sri G.Varadhan, Convenor, Sri Sathya Sai Books and Publications Trust, Tamil Nadu was the Guest of Honour.
The overall championship shield for the best performance was awarded to NSN Memorial Sr. Secondary School, Chitlapakkam. All other participants and guide teachers were given Certificates and mementoes for their participation. Director Sri P.Kumarasamy and Correspondent Sri S.Loganathan and felicitated all the dignitaries and judges by presenting a memento.
Smt. Savithri Chandrasekaran, Senior Principal proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with National Anthem followed by Mangala Arathi to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
